Hi, my name is Georgie! I am a 6 yr young little longhaired mini dachshund girl. So far my life has been pretty rough, you see my tear ducts dont work so I dont have any tears to lubricate my eyes, which means I have dry eye syndrome or whatever you call that. I was given to this really nice couple by my original owner as he didnt want to look after me anymore. My eyes were always sore and had this icky guck stuck on them. I never got to see the Vet or had my eyes cleaned till this nice family took me in. They were told I had allergies, so when they took me to the Vet they found out the truth, and started getting me the drops I needed. These drops were pretty expensive which they really couldnt afford. Then they checked into having my eyes fixed and were told that it could be possible, but would be around 5,000 dollars which they couldnt afford. Their mom knew the lady that runs the PeeWee rescue and asked if they could help as she didnt want me to be put down, whatever that means. I dont think it was very good as they were crying. So here I am at the rescue, get my drops regularly and my eyes already feel so much better. I am being a really good girl about having my eyes cleaned, I sit very still and let my new Mom put the drops in. We went to see the Vet today and he is going to check into getting my eyes fixed. He was very nice, but I didnt like having my temperature checked, talk about having a girls dignity tested!!! I thought that was pretty personal and gave him a dirty look, just so he knew I wasnt impressed. We should know more about the surgery next week, so will keep you all posted.
