Hi team, Aldaron here again speaking on behalf of the OU council. It’s been a bit since we limited Baton Pass to 3 members on a team. Unfortunately, it turns out that this measure was not enough to resolve the issue, as SIGNIFICANT feedback from players of every skill level has shown that Baton Pass is still extremely detrimental to a competitive metagame. It is the primary responsibility of the OU council to respond to such feedback, so weve decided to tweak the ban in a way that we feel most efficiently uses our community resources while sticking to the spirit and intent of the original vote. Instead of wasting time and effort by going through the motions of another suspect test, weve decided to make an administrative council decision and increase the limit on Baton Pass: instead of being limited to 3 members, it is now limited to 1 member. This decision stays true to the intent of the original ban by limiting the number of Baton Pass Pokemon per team while addressing the ban’s shortcoming (a Baton Pass team can still function with 3 members).
