Hi there! This is my first year with bees. I have a question about swimming pools. We have a single colony I started a couple of months ago from a package. Ive been feeding sugar syrup (even though we are in Georgia and just had palmetto flow) because they are new and are still working on drawing out comb. They are behind about 4 ft tall heavy underbrush, palmettos, trees, shrubs on the furthest point of my property. They began flying to our swimming pool about 150 ft away. I wouldnt mind it except as its become hotter (have we hit 100 degrees yet?) the bees seem to be congregating at the pool in greater numbers, and we have the same idea... stay in the pool when its hot! So we have kids, a baby, and five to fifteen bees at any time (more around 4pm) buzzing around getting rather aggravated when the people disturb them Ive set up a waterer using stones and a chicken watering can. Havent seen them touch it. Set out a bowl and let a spigot drip. Nothing. Is there ANYTHING that will keep these bees off our pool? Should I go out and switch the syrup to just water and refill daily?
