Hi yall.. Sorry I havent been on here for a long time or responded to anyones calls. This mama has been healing from health issues and I had to turn off the world for a while and recover so I could continue to take care of my son deej. The good news..... Deej is talking up a storm. He is working hard with a speech therapist to learn how to say his words but still struggles with pronunciation on certain letters. He has gained 14 pounds now and went from 92 lbs to 107 lbs. he passed his throat test and can now have soft foods that are puried. He still has the feeding tube in his belly and can only be fed by hospital staff but we have been there for nine months now and they said I am hospital staff (haha) so I was trained on feeding him and I go after work every day to feed him dinner, visit and tuck him in. Its amazing to see him eat but I make him eat his veggies and some days he says no so I tell him no desert (so he eats his veggies) and we laugh. He cant use his arms or legs yet but we are having a special wheel chair made to get him out of bed and let the natural gravity of sitting up help loosen and release his arms and legs. Ive been told he may never walk but then I was told he would not wake up, he would never come off the vent, he would never talk, he would never survive and look at us now! Laughing and singing and eating and talking and understanding most of it! He tells the nurses to quiet down when he is sleeping because they are making to much noise. Hard work and determination and a whole lot of prayer has brought is so far and we are not stopping any time soon. I was hoping he would be home by Christmas but he is not ready and I still have a lot of patient care to learn. In January we are hoping to put him in an extreme physical therapy homeward bound program to get him home. So out of site is not out of mind. We think of you all daily and all your prayers, love and support as we go through this recovery process. Deej is a true miracle and The Lord has plans for him right here. One day he will have a story to tell and we believe it will be a story that will help so many others! God bless and keep you and know you are in our prayers and heart always!
