Hi yall! This is Sabrina. I have a bit of a dilemma and I wondered if any of you might be able to offer suggestions or solutions. In past months I had compiled a list of data on Madison Rising fans. I call it Sams List as thats exactly who carries it. The list incorporates 3 elements - the fans names, their general region within their state, and a separate (PRIVATE) database including direct contact information. We had kept the Militia Map updated until recently. However, in these trying times, there has become more and more concern of data being infiltrated or misused. The militia map simply includes name, state, and a red dot somewhere within about a hundred mile radius of your location. My assumption is that its pretty easy for anyone to find that information so it cant hurt to make that public. It is the PRIVATE Sams List that concerns me the most. The list is a VERY useful tool for the band. We are currently hoping to contact fans in Rhode Island and North Carolina for a special opportunity and my list is woefully short despite knowing that we have several new fans in those areas. I take the security of that list VERY SERIOUSLY. The personal data is kept private and protected. I wont go into details, but you can be assured that it cannot be accessed electronically nor is it easy to locate. In addition, I have hand-delivered the database to Sam...it is not sent through the mail or through e-mail AT ANY TIME. Once I intake the list from FB PM I delete the data and encourage you to delete the data from your end. My attempt is to respond almost immediately so that your data is on the PM page as short a time as possible. The concern lies in collecting the data. I do not know how safe the Facebook Private Message page is. Does anyone have any safety data on that? Can we assume that messages sent and received by FB PM are safe from prying eyes?? Has anyone had experiences with PMs being hacked? Past research has proven that actual snail mail and e-mail are NOT the safest methods of data sharing. I would like to hope that FB PMs would be our safest options. I would VERY much like to hear your opinions and insight. Please reply with any thoughts, suggestions, alternatives, etc. that you may have. Thanks! - Sabrina
