High risk Incident News Release MHPS 2014-15808 On the 14th of July, 2014 at approximately 8:00 p.m. Police responded to a complaint of a Domestic Assault. A female victim indicated to Police that her, and her 29 year old common law boyfriend were engaged in a domestic situation at a residence on Aberdeen St SE, Medicine Hat. The female indicated that her boyfriend assaulted her by slapping her, pushing her down a flight of stairs, and brandished a weapon, and threatened her. The male also harmed an animal at the residence. The female fled the scene and called Police from an alternate location. Police attended to the scene on Aberdeen ST to apprehend the male. The male was intoxicated an refused to exit the residence, and verbally threatened the Police with a Fire-arm. The residence was contained and the TACT team and an Incident Commander were called to the location. After several hours of negotiations the male surrendered to Police without incident. The Major Crimes Unit, in conjunction with the Patrol Section is continuing the investigation. The 29 year old male, is known to Police and will be held for a JIR Bail hearing to be charged with: Assault; Assault with a Weapon; Three Counts of Breach of Probation; Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public; Mischief; Cruelty to Animals.
