High time for Omar to fulfill our demands: EJAC (Q) ‘Agitation a last option, want issues to be resolved on table’ =>Stating that it is the high time for the chief minister Omar Abdullah to fulfill the pending demands of the government employees, the Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC-Q) Friday stated that they will extend full support to the government once the issues are resolved at the earliest. Reacting to the recent statement of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah where in he stated that he his actively considering the pending issues of the state employees, Employees’ Joint Action Committee (EJAC) president Abdul Qayoom Wani stated that the same is a welcome step and that the employees are hopeful that there struggle of the last four years will yield results.Wani told KNS that agitation is the last option available with the employees and that it is hoped that the issues could be resolved through mutual consent. “CM in the past was actively backing our demand and he himself has assured us all the possible help from his side, we hope that he will look into the genuine demands of the state employees. ”Wani stated that the foremost demand is that the retirement age must be enhanced from 58 to 60 and that all daily wages and casual labors should be regularized at an earliest. “We want the service benefits to be given to the RT and the people holding migrant posts. Local bodies and corporations be brought under the ambit of 6th pay commission. The Medical allowance be enhanced from 300 rupees to 2000. Pay Anomaly issue must be resolved”Wani maintained that in the recent past the government facilitated ICICI insurance to the gazzetted employees while as the non- gazetted ones were left behind. The same yard stick should be adopted by the government. Wani further stated that government in the recent past slapped several cases against the employees who were protesting for their demands and that the cases should be revoked so that a confidence could build up between the government and its employees.
