Higher Everyday for Saturday, January 3, 2015 TITLE :A WELL-TRAINED YOUTH. TEXT:“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” (Proverbs 22:6) A story is told of a mother who allowed self-indulgence to ruin his son’s life, because she pampered him from his tender age. He became a vain fellow and social misfit later in life. One day the young man was caught stealing a mere pack of colour pencils at a bus stop on his way to school. When the news reached his mother, she was sore ashamed because the act brought disgrace to the entire family. Today’s text is a lesson for both youths and parents who wish to be useful, successful and responsible people in life. You are advised to stay away from any evil influence. If you have Christian parents who always take time to correct you, then make sure you cooperate with them, and do not do anything stupid that could make them relinquish their responsibility over you. Accept their rebukes and corrections with joy, for they want you to be useful in life. Most importantly, also submit to Jesus’ training, which is the best for you. Challenge: An un-submissive youth soon drowns in shame and regret. Prayer: OhLord, mould me for your own glory and greatness. Further Reading: 2 Samuel 15: 1-6; 13-14; 18:15. Quotation: Submit to Jesus’ training
