Highfield-based urban grooves outfit Xtra Large has established a stable of artistes who are known as the Roja Family. The new development is meant to extend and prolong the legacies of the outfit that comprises Jimmie “Swagger Jim” Mangezi and Norman “Likkle N” Manwere as they celebrate their 10 years in the urban grooves music industry. Xtra Large said the Roja Family currently has five different talented artistes who were recruited from the high-density suburb of Highfield. “The concept of creating the stable is to give the young and talented artistes from the ghetto a platform to showcase their talent. “We recruit them through auditions seasonally and soon we will recruit more from different areas,” said Swagger Jim. “Since we have been in the music industry for a decade now, there are some people especially among the young generation who might not appreciate our works as ‘Maroja’. “Therefore, the idea is to let the young artistes from our stable to carry with the name to extend and prolong our legacies.” The Xtra Large group said they went through a lot of hardships to make it in the music industry and they wouldn’t want young talents to experience the same. Meanwhile, one of their products who is also a son to Swagger Jim’s brother, born Lucky Mangezi but now popularly known as “Yung Roja”, is doing quite well as some of his tracks are receiving fair airplay on all stations. Yung Roja (24) did the popular song “Murasta” and “Musalala” which featured Xtra Large produced by Mac Dee among other songs. The other products are KC and Creature that is made of Thomas Mhembere and Munashe Chapman, Leeroy Chiyandura, who is popularly known as Leeman, Jungle D whose birth name is Daniel Makhalami and Tendai Chin’ono, whose stage name is “Sugar Policy”.
