Highlights Week 2 June 5, 2013 Week 2 was put to bed on Monday evening. And by all accounts things were a little less frantic. Over at the Alliston Union South Diamond Noble Insurance was taking on Mackenzie Sweet Corn. The tone of the game for Noble was set when Iler Irvine stopped a line drive along the 3rd base line. It seemed as if everyone touched the ball at some point but Drew Leitch was dominant on first base and kind enough to share base time with Makenna Laurie. Noah Demelo refused to divulge what the snack was which led to some very aggressive batting. Ayden Hill and Owen Murphy launched a couple of balls deep and the rest of the team followed suit. Meanwhile right next door at the Alliston Union North Diamond McDonalds was slugging it out with South Simcoe Physiotherapy and a couple of first year players were eager to prove themselves. David Shelson was getting it done on defense. Going after and knocking down every ball hit near him and even a couple not even close. And while David flashed the leather on defense Tyler Jacome Shutz was giving batting lessons on offense. Including a homerun in which he was running so fast people in the crowd thought they saw flames coming from his shoes. In the final game we saw Geo-Foundations vs Remax over at The Brian Gauley Diamond on 8th Ave. Geo-Foundations had some superb fielding by Sarah Hitchman, who stopped every ball that came her way. If baseball doesn’t work out, she could always help the Leafs in goal. Meanwhile at home plate, Marshall Bertolo showed great prowess with the bat, knocking out some stellar hits on a broken leg. Way to go TEAMS!
