The February MCC meeting will be held at the Monroe Senior Center on Wednesday, February 18th at 8 p.m. Topics to be covered in the tree grant meeting include tree inventories and using the information from the inventory, the economic value of trees including jobs and career opportunities and the siting of trees at Alex Smith Pavilion and Markay New Town Park. The last topic was brought up by a member of the public who attended the meeting. Matt Hoenninger asked about formation of a citizens committee to look at sustainable uses of the Faber Farm property that the town owns. While the Conservation Committee does not have the manpower to create and run such a committee, there was no objection to citizens exploring uses of the property so that proposals could be submitted to the town board.
