Highlights from the Reach the Beach Relay: - Running an overnight relay with my wife, Meghan, for the first time. Considering her health circumstances, she rocked it. - Angelica and Emily had very hard first legs both jam-packed with significant inclines in the mountains of NH. Seriously, of the first six legs for our van, theirs were likely the hardest. - Running with my sister-in-law, Erin. She destroyed her three legs in her first overnight relay, running an average 8:25 pace over 17 collective miles. Awesome! - Running again with my brother, Jeff. He has a knack for making people feel good and laugh at his own expense. I admire that. I think Ill never forget the crowd cheering his comment as he crossed the transition line at the end of his third leg: No walking here! (You had to be there.) - Running again with Rob who is a beast on the running path. We lost a man 36 hours prior to the race and Rob picked up the majority of the slack, putting in somewhere over 40 miles for our team. - Running again with Susan, who took particular interest in our cause, running for Home with Friends (its not too late to donate at northst.org!). - Running again with Vincent, who really is the amazing Christian man that his wife, Melanie often says he is on Facebook. - Running for the first time with Kevin Stewart (Sara) who took a spot on our team for us just recently as he prepares for the Philly marathon. He brought much-needed experience to the team. - The beauty of my home state, New Hampshire. As soon as I heard about this relay, I wanted to do it. What beauty. - Running at 1:15 AM: a difficult leg of over 8 miles with significant hills. My pace wasnt my best at all, but I did it. Ive never been happier to see Angelica who took over for me. - Thanks to Jeff and the Bethel Church of the Nazarene as well as Jason and Journey Church: A Church of the Nazarene for letting us use their vans. - The pouring rain at the finish line was not anticipated, but we will never forget it. There are a million other things Im not remembering at the moment. Maybe Ill post them in the comments.
