Hinterland Spokane WA USA will never be an art-destination city, not because it doesnt have a lot of talented artists, but because it simply doesnt have the vibrant art-collector/buyer demographic to make it happen. Its no mystery why those local artists who did make it big, internationally, like Kenneth Callahan, Kathleen Gemberling Adkison, and Bruce Selchov, had to sell their artwork elsewhere to make it happen. That said, my latest discovery, Linda Leeming Schneider, from the area, does some superlative portraiture, as well as some wondrous examples of the dying-art of calligraphy.
