Hip hop artiste and the Volta regime era man, Edem yesterday explained to his fans why he had to take out the ‘Ayigbe’ out of his showbiz name on the One show hosted by PY Addi and Jocelyn on Via sat 1.The man who is billed to be performing at the 3rd edition of Ghana meets Nigeria on the 29th of June at the AICC explained that, even though it is original to rep where you from locally it is important to make sure you don’t step on any toes internationally. ‘When I was entering the music scene, I wanted to be a house hold name in my country and in doing so make my people from the Volta region proud of who they are and where they come from hence I represented them by using ‘Ayigbe Eden’.‘Now the brand has repositioned and we are aiming international / Global hence because I don’t know what the word ‘Ayigbe’ means in another person’s language but the Eden name is universal, the team and I decided we stay out of trouble and go with DEEM, the Volta regime man explained.Nevertheless Edem still represents his people from Volta by way of Language which is even a more powerful tool to use in music than a stage name hence we think the rebranding of the rapper was a good move. The rapper has remixed the Over again song and shot a video for it, fans can now watch the new video video on you tube by subscribing to his channel.
