His Magnanimities are But Bonuses; Obedience - The Secret Whenever God is set to confirm His Words, even by launching a man into the depth of His largesse and fulfilment of precious promises, He tests the obedience of such a man. He will usually test one with something that is humanly difficult. The Bible is filled with examples of such. After God had made very deep and everlasting covenants with Abraham (Gen 17:1-16), to which the Bible reports “Your part of the contract,” God told him, “is to obey its terms”. - Gen 17:9A (TLB), He (God) tested his obedience. Later on, God tested Abraham’s faith and obedience. “Abraham!” God called. “Yes, Lord?” he replied. “Take with you your only son—yes, Isaac whom you love so much—and go to the land of Moriah and sacrifice him there as a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I’ll point out to you!” - Gen 22: 1-2 (TLB). We do know that father Abraham obeyed, after which God confirmed His Words by the mouth of an angel, “I, the Lord, have sworn by myself that because you have obeyed me and have not withheld even your beloved son from me, I will bless you with incredible blessings ... - Gen 22:16-17 (TLB), and God did that indeed. During the famine in Isreal (Ahabs reign), Prophet Elijah, as led by God had gone to the widow of Zarephath to be fed by her. All she had at that time was that which would make a meal for her son and her, after which they hope to wait for death. However, God had greater plans for her as a daughter of Abraham, but her obedience must be tried. But Elijah said to her, “Don’t be afraid! Go ahead and cook that ‘last meal,’ but bake me a little loaf of bread first; and afterwards there will still be enough food for you and your son. For the Lord God of Israel says that there will always be plenty of flour and oil left in your containers until the time when the Lord sends rain and the crops grow again!” - 1 Kings 17:13-14 (TLB). She obeyed, and the Word of the Lord was fulfilled. Many more examples abound in the Scripture. In this great Kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ, it is a God first business. Youve got to obey Gods Word first, then you get the dividends that follow. Beloved, it is none of your business how you will eat, drink, excel, marry, conceive children, conquer, get healing, get connected, obtain a scholarship or an admission, etc. It is the Lords! “So don’t worry at all about having enough food and clothing. Why be like the heathen? For they take pride in all these things and are deeply concerned about them. But your heavenly Father already knows perfectly well that you need them, and he will give them to you if you give him first place in your life and live as he wants you to. So don’t be anxious about tomorrow. God will take care of your tomorrow too. Live one day at a time. - Matt 6:31-34(TLB). God has said it, didnt He? He never lies, does He? He will do it, wont He? Beloved, stop bothering yourself and quit chasing after those legitimate freebies that God has accounted as bonuses to your obedience of putting Him first in all you do. Do His own will first, and other things will fall in place. A father in the Lord said, and I quote, The secret of moving forward is obeying the Lord. The secret of moving forward is standing by His Word, fulfilling His promise and standing for a purpose for which you are created. - Evang. Mike Bamiloye. Are you spiritually oppressed, trampled upon, cheated or deprived of your rights? The Master of the seas is saying that You will not need to fight in this battle. Stand firm, hold your position, and see the salvation of the LORD on your behalf ...’ Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed. Tomorrow go out against them, and the LORD will be with you. - 2 Chron 20:17 (ESV), but youve got to STAND, stop shifting grounds or looking back, be calm (Ex 14:14) and go back to the place youve been downtrodden or battered to behold Gods victory. Have you lost a loved one or something precious, the Lord will comfort you and give you restoration with compensation in Jesus name! Are you burdened with a load of care, failed, weak, lonely, barren? Get on your knees Gods beloved - take it to the Lord in prayers (and make that an habit), for that is when and where you can truly stand and overcome all of lifes challenges and trials of faith. Study Gods Word, meditate on them, regurgitate them and live them. Partial obedience is absolute disobedience. Obey Gods terms - His Word - at all times! Then you will see that life is worth living and there is great glory in timely obedience. In this second quarter and beyond, the goodness of the Lord shall not cease in your life, family and ministry in Jesus name! Gods great and inexhaustible grace be multiplied unto you in Jesus name. Shalom!
