Historical Society Meeting Monday, September 18 A Photographic History of Penland School Robin Dreyer, photographer editor and Communications Manager at Penland School will present a program that will illustrate the nearly 90 year history of the Penland School of Crafts. This program, relying on photographs dating back to the 1920’s will tell us of the founding of Penland by Lucy Morgan and show us the faces of the students and instructors through the years. We will learn how Penland has grown over the years under the leadership of Bill Brown and others and we will look at Penland’s influence on artists, the community and county that it serves. The program will be held August 18, 7:00 PM at the Mitchell Historic Courthouse, 11 N. Mitchell Avenue, Bakersville, in Phillips Hall (the old courtroom) on the second floor. The meeting and presentation is free and open to everyone. Come join us!
