Historical Talks & Tours - Dooey’s Cairn & Dunloy Wednesday 23 July 2014 Bus Departs 2.00pm returns approx. 5.00pm Meet: Townhead Street Carpark, adjacent Town Hall The summer wouldn’t be complete without our local history tours which offer the opportunity to learn about the history of many interesting buildings and sites under the guidance of local historian, S Alex Blair. This visit will begin at Dooey’s Cairn, the best example of horned cairn from the New Stone Age in Northern Ireland. It will also include Dunloy Presbyterian Church and St Joseph’s Church with its dramatic interior and Irish Round Tour. At the final stop of the tour Mr Blair will give a short talk about Andy Dooey who owned the land where the cairn was discovered and gave it into state care in 1975. All tours leave from Townhead Street Carpark, Ballymoney at 2pm returning at 5pm. Please wear suitable outdoor clothing. The cost for each tour including tea and coffee is £10. Numbers are limited to 30 and tickets must be purchased in advance from Ballymoney Town Hall 028 2766 0230.
