History, Economics, and Natural Law -- Perception vs. Reality Today, many view history, economics, and natural law more as though these are a religious belief system in which anyones perceptions are okay as, well, thats their truth. Although this may be the case for ones faith--as this is very personal and one develops their own belief system in a free society based upon their own convictions, empirical observations, and ultimately their faith--this is not the case with the former. Regardless what one believes, thinks, feels, excludes, adds, or embellishes, there is only one specific set of facts of history and laws of economics and nature that will never change. Regardless errant or incomplete codification or interpretation of history--the actual and factual moment-by-moment unfolding of events of human existence--even if that history related to a specific event has never been recorded accurately, the facts related to each specific event in history will never change. What happened, happened. Similarly, regardless errant or incomplete codification or understanding of the laws of human action--of exchange, production, distribution, and consumption of goods and services--there is still only one reality as to the true, factual cause and effect of any action in this system. The cause and effects of human exchange are what they are. Even if we can never know every factor and these are not perfectly understood to enable completely accurate economic calculation, these causes and effects exist down to the smallest influential factor. Even if each law of economics has never been understood or recorded accurately, these laws do not change due to human ignorance of them. And finally, as with history and economics, regardless errant codification or interpretation of natural law--that which impacts and regulates human societal action throughout history, that which is the absolute and eternal standard of value, and that which is the ultimate measure of what is right, wrong, and just, as defined by nature, by Divine power or the natural structure of the universe and human reason--there is one reality as to this natural law. Even if we can never know each measure and each standard completely that governs our natural existence, it does not change due to human ignorance or abuse of these measures and standards. Given the aforementioned, the most important objective in enabling the greatest possible leverage of history, economic and natural law to human advantage moving forward, then, becomes one of finding, continually refining, understanding and codification of, to a greater and greater levels of accuracy: history and of specific most important events in question; economic laws, factors and their cause and effect; and the natural laws that govern our human existence. The key to achieving each of these objectives, then, is to find for each the most sound, logical, rational and defensible methods that were used, are being used, or can be used. Then, the second most important objective is the constant improvement of individual and societal alignment with the lessons of history, the laws of economics and the laws of nature. To the degree we fail in this effort, we to that same degree destroy our ability to leverage this understanding to greatest human value. To the degree a society purposely interferes with the aforementioned, to that same degree or greater, that society will reap the whirlwind of maladjustment to reality and nature. And, finally, to the degree we attempt to treat these facts of history, laws of economics and laws of nature as malleable and subject to individual and political interpretation to satiate lust for inordinate power, control and gain, to that same degree we invite tyranny, disaster and human suffering.
