The highly urbanized city Lucena Citywith a population of about 236,390 and its 33 barangays belongs to the urban areas in the Philippines. Dalahican had 21,302 residents by the end of 2007. Dalahican belongs to the barangays of Highly Urbanized City Lucena City which in the outlying area Dalahican fishports=Located in Barangay Dalahican in Lucena City is what is probably Quezon province’slargest fish port built on reclaimed land from Tayabas Bay. This is the primary port where the fresh seafood catch from the Sibuyan Sea is delivered and from thereon distributed to many parts of Luzon. The fish industry is so big in this area that they built a separate port half a kilometer to the northeast to serve as a terminal for the Roro and ferries in order not to have the transport and fishing industries disturb each other at this busy bay. The ferry port serves destinations like 5 Marinduque, Mindoro, Romblon, and Masbate. A causeway was also built to connect the fish and ferry ports together. If you want to see more pictures of mouth-watering seafood at Dalahican, check out these two blog posts/galleries: “Dalahican Fish Port, Lucena City – Fruits of the Sea”and “dalahican fishing port”. Attack in Dalahican The Battle of Dalahican lasted for 36 hours as was in Binakayan. About 3,000 Spanish troops, under Blancos orders, were marching towards Dalahican. Although initially successful in breaching Filipino defenses, the Spanish failed to totally destroy the formers positions and were thus under constant musket fire, melee charges and archer shoots by the Filipinos. During the battle, the dead bodies of the enemies and revolutionaries that perished were contained into three wells that were dug through Alvarezs command. The attack on Filipino positions by the Spaniards at Dalahican completely failed, suffering more than 1,000 casualties in the process, and by nightfall on November 11, the battle was over. They tried to retreat back towards Manila at the end of the battle, but, now 6 cut off from Manila due to Filipino victory at Binakayan, fell back instead to Cavite City. Alvarez, along with their troops including those commanded by Aguinaldo who quickly joined the fray after Binakayan, then pursued the retreating Spanish and besieged Cavite City, where many Spanish soldiers surrendered to Aguinaldo. The Battle of Binakayan-Dalahican[note 3] was a simultaneous battle during the Philippine Revolution that was fought from November 9–11, 1896 that led to a decisive Filipino victory. The twin battle took place at the shores of Binakayan, in the town of Cavite Viejo (also called Cavite el Viejo, now Kawit); Dalahican and Dagatan inNoveleta; and, to minimal extent, in Imus and Bacoor towns in Cavite province, Philippines that lasted for two days before the Spanish army retreated demoralized and in disarray. The result of the battle was the first significant Filipino victory in the countrys history. The Battle of Dalahican[5] was fought on November 9-11, 1896 that led to Filipino victory as part of thePhilippine Revolution. Similar attack was made by the Spanish colonial government adjacent town ofCavite el Viejo (Kawit) in the province of Cavite. The battle took place at the shores Dalahican and Dagatan inNoveleta lasted for two days after Spanish retreat 7 CHAPTER III I.
