Hmm, I hope I dont get too much flak for this.. The other day, a buddy and I were discussing some of the people in this town, particularly the ones who come up to random people (in the mall for instance) and pray for them, as if they were told by some higher power that you need to go pray for that random stranger about ________ right now. What we were discussing was whether or not that person being prayed for benefits from it, or if the person doing the praying is the one actually benefiting from it. I get the sense that these people who do the praying probably feel really good about themselves after, as if they had just really helped someone, but what about the person prayed for? Maybe that person was late for something and when stopped abruptly to be prayed for, didnt want to be rude and decline, now what if because that persons time was taken, he is late getting to work and what if (yes this is a little murphys law but not impossible) they were let go from their job for being late, all the while the person who did the praying is feeling happy and fulfilled that they (think they) made someones life better. I know at this point that everyone knows the group of people that I am referring to, and I have absolutely nothing against the hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry that we have in this town, but I have an actual example of this exact thing making life just a little bit worse for me instead of helping. I delivered a pizza to a house. Living at the house were several young people who attend the school mentioned above. Normally a delivery transaction takes about a minute, maybe 2 if they take a while finding their ID, CC or w/e. After giving them the pizza I was asked if they could pray for me, if you know me than you know I am not rude to people and very accepting, not to mention I was in customer service mode, so I said yes. They prayed for me for a good 10 minutes until finally I spoke up and said I needed to get back to work. I got back to the store and found out that the next delivery I was scheduled to be on was given to the next driver in the queue as I had taken such a long time getting back and people dont like cold pizza, long story still long(lol), that driver made a $15 tip off of that delivery, and the people who prayed for me, didnt tip at all. I guess Im not really trying to make a point here, just more so wanted to vent it. /rant
