Hmmmmm......well. Im not 100% sure how I feel having an entertainer deliver the Commencement address. I always viewed Howard as an intellectual institution, so I felt people like Colin Powell were more fitting. This is not to take anything away from Mr. Combs and everything that he has accomplished, but Im just not sure if it feels like a fit. If going the entertainment route, perhaps someone like Morgan Freeman or Tom Joyner.....but its good to have well-known people speaking at our commencement. I think that Elijah Cummings was the speaker at ours. Kofi Owusu please correct me if Im wrong. I never felt like products containing foul language or explicit material were representative of myself and what I believe as a Christian. I also never thought they were accurately representative of what the University stands for. Ill wait to see more responses from more Howard alumni. I do know, however, that my academic advisor and musical mentor Dr. James Weldon Norris is probably having a fit about this.
