Ho Chi Minh (born Nguyen Sinh Cuog) was a Vietnamese communist - TopicsExpress

Ho Chi Minh (born Nguyen Sinh Cuog) was a Vietnamese communist revolutionary leader who led the Vietnamese Independence movement in 1941 defeating the French on 1945. As a young man, he had lived in France where he began to develop an interest in politics and had also studied in Moscow where he learned a lot about communist ideology and later in China where he gave socialist lectures to young Vietnamese. In 1941 he returned to Vietnam and led the Viet Minh in the fight for Vietnams independence defeating the French colonialists and the occupying Japanese forces and by 1945 the independent Democratic Republic of Vietnam was declared. However the country was soon to divide along ideological lines after independence. North Vietnams pro-communist forces led by Ho known as the Viet Cong battled South Vietnams anti-communist forces supported by America who were eager to avoid a communist takeover of South Vietnam. Following years of fighting and with the ear still raging on, Ho Chi Minh died from a heart failure in 1975. The huge casualties suffered by American troops during the war saw them negotiating a gradual withdrawal leading to the end of the war in 1975.
