Holden Hill police are reminding residents to keep an eye out for vulnerable members of the community after officers checking on the wellbeing of an elderly woman found she was incapacitated and needed their assistance. Last week police were alerted to concerns about a Broadview woman after she failed to meet a friend for a pre-arranged walk. Officers who attended at the 94-year-old’s home did not get any response to their calls or knocks and when they spoke with neighbours they discovered they had not seen her all day. Police conducted further checks with hospitals and family before returning to the home and gaining entry via a side window. They located the woman on the bedroom floor after a possible stroke and an ambulance was called. A Holden Hill police spokeswoman said “to say that she was very pleased to see police burst into her bedroom was an understatement.” Police commend the friend for following up her concerns about her walking buddy and remind residents that keeping an eye out for vulnerable members of our community is not an onerous task, but an essential one.
