PURPOSE: 1. To ensure the consistent delivery of personalized care to every resident. 2. To maintain excellent clinical performance and health & safety standards. 3. To create and sustain a positive reputation for the Home in the local community. 4. To meet budgeted financial performance; maximising fee levels and exercising sound cost management. 5. To build and maintain a well-motivated and engaged workforce. KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS: 1. Every resident has a unique, detailed and personalized clinical and social care plan that is reviewed and updated periodically in line with need and preference. 2. All internally audited clinical governance, service quality and H&S measures, CQC Standards (Outcomes) and other external audits uniformly are met. 3. The Home maintains budgeted occupancy and has an effective range of marketing activities in place. 4. Fee rates, operating costs and EBITDA are in line with or better than Budget. 5. Staff retention is good (annual turnover < 10%) mandatory staff training is maintained and skills development is evident. KEY DUTIES AND TASKS: Customer Care • Ensure that a personalized approach to resident care is delivered and that care plans are reviewed and updated in accordance with the unique needs of each individual. • Continually assess the needs of residents in accordance with contracts and service specifications and promptly report and investigate complaints from any party. • Ensure the courteous and effective reception and admission of residents. • Check periodically the Resident Admission Report ensuring completeness and accuracy is maintained. Operational standards • Ensure compliance with all Company policies and procedures, regulations and Statutory provisions in the effective management of the Home. • Develop, promote and maintain defined standards of care, implementing improvements in accordance with evidence-based practice. • Promote health and safety in the Home ensuring a safe environment for residents, employees and visitors, complying will Company health and safety policy. • Ensure the safe management of medicines in accordance with company medication management policies, legislation and NMC guidelines and audit in accordance with relevant Company policy. • Investigate all accidents and incidents, taking any appropriate action and ensuring reporting and recording. • Ensure that all documentation relating to the Home is stored correctly and accessed only in accordance with Company policy. • Ensure that Company policies are implemented with respect to the security and safety of residents possessions. • Monitor the physical condition of the Home, ensuring the building is clean and consistently of a high standard of appearance and audit in accordance with relevant Company policy. • Ensure the security of the premises at all times, liaising with local police as necessary. • Assume 24/7 accountability for the Home, delegating fully to a competent appointed deputy whenever not on site in person. • Comply fully with Company policy with regard to revenue and capital expenditure approvals. • Undertake workforce planning to anticipate and accommodate staff turnover, maternity leave and occupancy or service changes. • In conjunction with Home Departmental Heads ensure that Company standards are maintained at all times. Marketing • Maintain positive working relationships with residents families, Regulators, GPs and all other local community stakeholders. • Analyse and discuss with the Regional Director any departure from budgeted occupancy levels. Take action to fill vacant beds and ensure highest levels of occupancy. • Ensure that the Home is well promoted in the local community. Ensure that any positive events concerning the Home are advertised to increase public awareness. • Maintain contacts list and follow up all enquiries from potential residents. • Ensure that all enquiries are managed in accordance with company policy, that all documentation associated with the resident enquiry process is completed fully and accurately. Financial performance • Manage financial affairs of the Home in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements. • Maintain fees in line with agreed pricing strategy • Ensure that all invoices submitted for payment have been checked for accuracy and authorised, and that payroll hours are checked and authorised. • Comply fully with Company policy with regard to revenue and capital expenditure approvals Leadership and people • Visit all areas the Home at frequent and regular intervals to maintain personal visibility and availability, including night and weekend visits on a minimum bi-weekly basis. • Review and approve all staff duty rotas to ensure compliance with required staffing levels, budget provision and relevant Company policy. • Oversee the selection and appointment of all staff in accordance with Company policy, Statutory and regulatory requirements. • Ensure staff induction, training, supervision and appraisal is conducted in accordance with relevant policies. • Ensure that mandatory staff training is undertaken, that certification is kept current and that agreed staff development plans are implemented. • Monitor staff absence and intervene as required to assure satisfactory levels of attendance. Ensure all annual leave requests are authorized and recorded correctly and fully. • Ensure that staff are well presented at all times in accordance with the uniform policy and dress code.
