Honest Public Prayer: Prayer before Session of US Congress: Oh God, once you spoke through the prophet Isaiah the promise of a Messiah, then waited seven hundred fifty years to deliver. May we move as slowly to do anything of value for the nation or its people. May empty rhetoric be ever on our lips, and our motives never seriously questioned. Do not lead us into bipartisanship, and deliver us from those among us who are actually trying to do a good job. We ask this through you, who may be Christian or Jewish (possibly Muslim, not sure), but definitely are colored red, white, and blue. Amen.
