Honestly I dont know how to describe Ribadu politically. I cant call him a political spent-force because that presupposes that he was once a force politically, which in my estimation he never was. What is my beef with Ribadu??? Actually none, he has changed parties , that is his prerogative, so no need to hate him for that. But after taking a deeper look at the man, his antecedents, his body language and all, one comes up with a sorry picture of a man who is totally confused, and seems to lack direction and ideology. The man made a name for himself no doubt at EFCC, his presence there gave us an institution that seemed to have credibility which since his departure it has continued to fail to achieve. The tale of Ribadu and EFCC are really rare in the Nigerian public service sector, probably only matched by Oby Ezek with due process, and late Dora Akunyili with NAFDAC.... unfortunately (although some may disagree) neither of these individuals were able to replicate their achievements when called to higher responsibilities in the same Nigerian public service. Anyway, this inability of our achievers to build on reputations they have created in one area that seems to be one problem that also seems to be bedeviling Ribadu. Someone who was incorruptible and honest enough to reject a 15 million USD bribe, unlike what we hear of the Farouk - Otedola saga (even for much less). Someone who was able to fight corruption to a standstill no matter how highly placed you were and was able to get his boss, Tafa Balogun, docked for corruption, would not in normal circumstances be seen as a person who himself lacks credibility. I have no grounds to believe Ribadu is corrupt, infact everything I have heard about him confirms that he is probably not. But is that what makes you a political giant? No.. absolutely NOT!!!! Ribadu fails to express himself coherently politically and that is his main problem; he also unfortunately has never had a credible ideological platform to market himself. Ribadu who hounded Ibori, Tinubu and co for their roles in various corruption cases, nwo suddenly finds himself on the same stage with Tinubu, and depending on Tinubus structures to define himself politically. That in itself is the sign of a confused soul... it already gives you the impression that this man is politically untenable. .....Well according to reports that is now history, given that his new song is that GEJ is the best thing to happen to Nigeria. . When you read the narrative of Ribadu, you really begin to wonder if this man (Ribadu) even really understands himself. The man is free to make his choices, but he should also realize that his body language is important, when those you condemned yesterday, suddenly become saints today, then my brother something is really missing.
