Hong Hee: Gods Vision For You:Day 2 Genesis 15:5 Step Outside Your Tent People often get preoccupied with their circumstances and experiences. In the process, they may lose perspective about what is really true and important. Abraham experienced one of these difficult moments in life. God had promised to make Abraham’s descendants into a great nation, but Abraham didn’t even have a son! Abraham was so frustrated that he grew depressed. He thought, “I’m old, I have no son, and I’ll probably die soon. My life is a waste.” Abraham was experiencing tunnel vision. He was cooped up in a dark, musty tent, and he thought his situation looked hopeless. But God knew that Abraham just needed a fresh perspective on his situation. So He took Abraham outside the tent and said, “Look now toward heaven, and count the stars, if you are able to number them… So shall your descendants be” (Gen. 15:5). Abraham originally viewed his world through small human lenses, but God wanted him to look through big God lenses instead! God inspired Abraham to put aside his present reality and to visualize the future and hope that He had in store for his life. Just like Abraham, God is inviting you to look up at the brilliant night sky. Step out of your tent and be reminded of God’s greatness and goodness. God wants you to gaze upon the stars, which represent His promises to you, and cry out to Him, “You are mighty! You are able! And I believe in all of Your wonderful promises!” Prayer for the day: Praise God for His beauty and power. Ask Him to help you see this world through His eyes, and trust in all of His promises for your life.
