Honoring Ms. Helen Ives December 8, 1915 - January 28, 2014 Ms. Helen Ives, Salisburys lauded and loved historian, whose ancestor Amos Ives, born Wallingford, CT in 1748, settled the forest in 1795. Amos had 7 sons and 1 daughter, owned a large farm and estate, and passed away at Salisbury Corners in 1841. Ms. Ives was the elementary school teacher of our Towns of Newport/Norway section editor Bill McKerrow. Like her ancestor, Ms. Ives has lived a long and productive life, and she enjoys hearing Bills behind-the-scenes stories about his days as her student.
