Honoured to be hosting a Khorezm workshop from the internationally acclaimed Sanat Mahmudova. Learn the techniques of this theatrical and comical Horam style of Khorezm dance. Characterized by trembling of the hands and torso, frequent head slides and comic elements, Khorezm is a vibrant dance from the ancient kingdom which now forms part of Uzbekistan. This is a rhythmic style of dance performed with wrist bells and featuring complex quivering motions which were traditionally performed in place. Uzbek dance has traded influences with the dances of India, China, Persia and Arabia and elements of this seminal tradition can be traced all the way from Japan to Eastern Europe.
