Hope Locals Will Read: Stanislaus County Is Using Environmental Resources To Squeeze Money Out Of Citizens By Trolling Neighborhoods Looking For Violations And Writing Up Code Violations Using Anonymous Complaints To Justify What They Are Doing. I Had A Limb From A Tree Break Off Into The Road. The County Was Suppose to Come Out And Help Remove The Limb. They Didnt And I Had To Clean Up The Mess Even Though I Was Sick. I Cut The Big Stuff And Stacked It In My Yard. The Brush Limbs I Piled In The Street By My House. I Called To Get The Help The County Was Suppose To Give Me, But My Calls Landed On Deaf Ears. Next Thing I Know I Have Environmental Resources At My Door Saying That If I Didnt Take Care Of The Brush I Would Be Fined. I Was Told That One Of My Neighbors Complained About The Pile. When I Asked Why The County Didnt Come Out To Help Me When They Were Suppose To I Was Told That, Since I Had Taken Care Of The Problem Myself It Was All On Me Now. As For My Neighbors They All Said They Were Not The Ones That Had Complained And A Few Even Got Notices Of Some Code Infraction. I Called Supervisor OBrians Office To See What Was Going On And What I Could Do About It. I Was Told That As Long As I Was Working On The Problem There Was Nothing Environmental Resources Should Do. Wrong There. After Shredding About 1/3 In 2 Weeks, Which I Thought Was Doing Good For Someone Who Has Had 3 Back Surgeries And Working In 100 Degree Temperatures, I Receive Official Notice Of My Violation And I Had 2 Weeks To Fully Take Care Of The Problem. I Called Supervisor OBrians Office To Complain About The Harassing Actions Of Environmental Resources. His Office Was Not Happy. Long Story Short, The Good News Is We Got Lucky And A Friend Of A Friend Had A Big Shredder And Made Short Work Of What I Had Left. The Bad News Is The Environmental Resources Worker That Came To My House Was Driving Up And Down Every Street In My Empire Neighborhood Looking For More Code Violations To Anonymously Charge Home Owners With. They Do This Illegally. Their Own Codes State That There Must Be A Complaint From A Neighbor Of The Violator. Since The Complainer Can Remain Anonymous It Gives Environmental Resources A Blank Check To Steal As Much Money As They Can From Home Owners. If This Happens To You Remember That Your Neighbors Are Not The Bad Guys. Its The County Government Reaching Into Your Pockets. Because They Can.
