Hope in the tarrying time: For yet a little while, and he that - TopicsExpress

Hope in the tarrying time: For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry. Hebrews 10:37 By carefully reading the Bible, we find the steps God wants us to take in these last days: We are told in Heb. 10:16-17 that This is the covenant that I will make with them AFTER THOSE DAYS, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more. This is talking more fully about the time in Rev. 22:11 when He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. Yet we are told to have boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus. Heb. 10:19; and vs. 22-23, Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised. Then we are told how we should be to each other during this time: And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together...but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. Heb. 10:24-25. We are to be encouraging one another. We are then warned: Heb. 10: 26-27 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. The margin of my Bible shows references of Numb 15:30 and 1 John 5:16, that wilfully is sinning presumptuously. When I read these verses I think also of how often we struggle with fear as we are studying end time prophecy, and of how that fear can undermine our struggle to take our lives, hearts, sins to Jesus. So, I think it is important for us each to pray about how to apply these verses to ourselves so that our fear and presumption combined do not undermine faith and surrender. But, if we follow on further in Hebrews, we find the answer given to us about this! :) For we are instructed But call to remembrance the former days, in which, after ye were illuminated, ye endured a great fight of afflictions. Heb. 10:32. How many of us experienced the taste of honey in eating the little book! And then the bitterness of persecution or sufferings! We rejoiced in the life we had in reading His word and being close to Jesus and the voice of the Holy Spirit as we studied. WE ARE TO REMEMBER THESE THINGS. :) In vs. 33 we are to remember that in our joy we became companions of them that were so used. (who had suffered similar sufferings); and the bond of compassion (vs. 34) and knowing in yourselves that ye have in heaven a better and an enduring substance. We are then told to cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompense of reward. (vs. 35); and For ye have need of patience, that after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. The steps ahead of us require patience. For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and WILL NOT TARRY. As is found in Rev. 22:12: And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. And then we are reminded: Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in Him. But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul. The solution to keep us from presumption and willful sin is to live by faith and to not turn or draw back from Jesus, but to keep coming boldly to the throne of grace. May God bless as we study and pray on these things! :)
