The big question to ask - is two weeks too short a period for our employers to advertise and interview potential local jobseekers? There is the fear that employers simply place their job vacancies in the bank and wait for two weeks to lapse before reverting to their pro-foreign hiring policy. In Australia, its six months and employers need to show proof of advertising and interviewing locals before they can look for foreign staff. That is called workplace protection to the core which made ours sound like wayang in comparison.
