Kirsti and Chad Peterson have long been into running, so it was no surprise to friends and family that when they discovered Bear Creek Running Co. was up for sale in March of this year, they decided to step in. The Petersons moved to Keller 7 years ago with their kids: Cody, 16, Colten, 14 and Gracie, 12. All three of their children share their passion for running and all three are involved in KISD cross country. Kirsti and Chad had been customers of Bear Creek Running Co. since its opening in 2012, and loved the local store for its commitment to customer care and community. This is the first business in their family, but that hasn’t stopped Kirsti and Chad from hitting the ground running. Since officially taking over ownership of the shop at 101 Town Center Lane, Ste 115 in July, they have worked hard to build good relationships with their shoe and running accessory suppliers to bring Keller residents a diverse inventory of the best products. Bear Creek Running Co.’s focus is providing the right running shoe for each individual by offering video gait analysis to ensure individual foot strike, pronation and lift-off mechanisms are factored into each and every shoe selection. Quite simply, Kirsti and Chad are all about helping people and their community. They enjoy being able to help their customers find the perfect shoe, whether they’re a high school athlete interested in improving their running performance, a social runner set on accomplishing personal goals, a marching band student trying to get rid of back pain, or anyone in between. They already have big plans for the future, too, including the addition of a community coordinator position at the store focused on interacting with individuals and organization within the community; partnerships with professional coaches to offer their customers metabolic testing, motion analysis, multi-sport and running clinics, and individualized training programs; and the re-establishment of the Bear Creek Running Club for weekly group runs and team events.
