Hopefully I can get a straight answer about my hardware from someone here....Im concerned about a possible bottleneck somewhere between my CPU (i7 2600K) and my stock dell made (Chinese junk) IMO motherboard and my new paired GTX 970 GPUs. I have benchmarked my set up in SLi using Heaven benchmark and Valley Benchmark in every setting possible with Nvidia Control Panel with my GPUs and dont feel that Im getting the best performance possible with two 970s. I want to mention that by standard, my i7 2600K is still considered to be a viable CPU even by todays standards. I have successfully over clocked my 2600K with very little difficulty to 4.3 GHz operating stable and acceptable idle and under load temperature. So Im sure the problem isnt within my CPU. It is also liquid cooled, which I have an issue according to Alienware Thermal Control panel saying my CPU pump has failed. However, the pump is running. Anyway, Im aware that the motherboard was made in 2011 and its Bios appears to be AO6. My original GPU was the Geforce GTX 580 before upgrading to (2) GTX 970s. If there is a bottleneck, which I suspect being the cheap made mobo, how do I nail it down? My next upgrade plan is a new mobo but Im sort of confused, being fairly new to PC gaming and PC builds as a whole. Id be lying if I said I totally understand how everything works. I need an affordable mobo that will allow over clocking, yet is of much better quality than whats in my R3/new case build. But back to my main concern.Dell is very cryptic when it comes to Alienware mobo specs, hardware compatibility or performance data. Is my current mobo hindering my 2 x 970s? Thanks in advance.
