“Hopefully it’s not that much of a secret” is what I mentioned to someone yesterday, in regards in God being my family’s secret weapon! I had a beautiful time this morning at church and I love a Bible verse mentioned there, Psalm 34:10, “Even strong young lions sometimes go hungry, but those of us who reverence the Lord will never lack any good thing.” It goes on to say in verse 19, “The good man does not escape all troubles—he has them too. But the Lord helps him in each and every one.” Reading this entire chapter was a huge God wink for me, as it is exactly what I’ve discovered in my walk with God and this Psalm was written maybe three thousand years ago! As I am writing this, laying on me is my beautiful and smart daughter Julie, and as I say frequently, I know it’s God helping me to raise them! We just had a beautiful Sunday brunch together with fresh goat meat that we picked up on the way home from church, cooked by my marvelous husband in a soup with lots of carrots, potatoes and onions that the kids prepped! I often say to my them, “Did I pick the best dad for you guys or what?” As we ate, everyone said were they were grateful for, with my three year old, Joshie, screaming as usual, “Me first!” going on with a long list of what he’s thankful for. I said that I’m grateful for Nigeria, where we’re closer more than ever as a family, thanks to our wonderful and simple life here! And of course well encounter trouble, but like I said this week: “I do my best every day by staying close to Him (God) as to the day’s agenda, taking life one step at a time! And if issues do come up, which I’m sure they will, I’m confident that He and I can handle them together, like we’ve done so amazingly in the past! “The Lord is my strength and my shield; My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped.” –Psalm 28:7” I’m still sucking up to God and running to him in every decision, trusting my intuition (God’s way of directing us), focused on doing the right, excellent and most loving thing in every moment, example and experience!
