Hopefully, we turned a huge corner today. As the physical therapist said, Weldon is doing 1000% better today. It is amazing what a transfusion accomplishes. We are now home and the kids came home with us. I think the hospital is throwing a party. We had one more unattended antic up our sleeve, unbeknownst to all, even us. This time I was the culprit. I was sitting in my walker/wheelchair combo waiting for transportation to take us out of the hospital. I had put it on wheelchair setting but they wouldnt let Weldon ride in anything but their wheelchair. So I sat to wait. For some reason I dont remember, I slid to the edge of my chair (forgetting the seat lifts from the hinge at that end.) Before I knew it, I was falling onto the very hard floor right onto my new knees, all the while I fought to get righted only to end up getting to the handles of the chair (I stupidly had not locked) and managed to then get just far enough as the chair scooted out to then fall on my back, right where I had spinal fusion! I must have been a sight. It hurt. We all were crying and laughing at the same time. It scared us, yet it was so ironic, just as we are ready to leave and after Weldons arm breaking fall! Weldon and Kristen pushed the call button at the same as I was saying dont get help, i just wanted to go home. Even security showed up because I wasnt a patient. He was a great guy, but he did walk us to the door and waited for us to get into the cars to head on the journey home. I figured I was able to walk, how bad could it be? I imagine I will be sore a few days, but no worse for wear. Now the kids are threatening to bubble wrap us. They have headed out together his evening for a well deserved break. We received a lecture before they left. Ah, such is life, we now are both in bed with our two dogs and one grand puppy up here with us and babysitting us.
