Hoping this time that BR1M will actually reach all of the homeless entitled as the last two did not. If Reach Out had not worked in cooperation with Bank Islam during previous awards to register the homeless for BR1M, 800 poor would not have received anything. The Finance Ministry eventually agreed, after pressure from Bank Islam, that Reach Out could be the registered home address for those with no place of abode, as without a registered home address the poor did not qualify for BR1M. Whilst this is not the answer to alleviating poverty, we do welcome some relief for those in need. The key is to reintegrate the poor back into society and to assist those working below the poverty line into work with a higher disposable income, a principle and strategy that Reach Out was founded on.
