Hormone Post #3 So what did I do? Perimenopause means around menopause and refers to the time period during which a womans body makes its natural transition toward permanent infertility (menopause). Perimenopause is also called the menopausal transition. Women start perimenopause at different ages. After researching perimenopause and realizing that this was possibly my problem, but my military doctor wouldnt listen, honestly I wasnt sure what to do.... Then one day I was watching Oprah and her show was about Bio-identical hormone therapy and as I listened to all the women I knew that my hormones were my issue! So I started researching bio-identical hormone replacement therapy and the difference between it and regular HRT as well as looking for a specialist in my area as well as finding out if my insurance would cover it (they did not cover bio-identical hormones 100%). The difference is bio-identical hormones are natural and compounded by a pharmacist to exactly match the hormones you already have in your body. Meaning they are freshly made for you each time you need them. Synthetic hormones are chemically made, not found in nature and patented and sold by drug companies!
