Horrible horrible brush fire in the central part of the state - TopicsExpress

Horrible horrible brush fire in the central part of the state thats been burning for most of the afternoon and into the night. 35 to 40 mph winds hit thousands of red cedar trees in a rural part of Logan County north of Guthrie and when the trees catch fire, they explode, sending embers flying as far as a mile. the firemen couldnt keep up because there werent even roads to get to part of the blaze. So far 8 houses for sure have burned. Theyre waiting for daylight to verify. Lots of trailer houses...lots of really nice rural homes and cedar cabins, etc. People have been evacuated for miles. Estimated, over 3,000 to 4,000 acres have burned so far. Guthrie fire chief said on late news that they hoped to get it under control my daylight because the wind has laid some. But, added theyd be watching the burn for hot spots for the rest of the week until predicted rains come on Wednesday or Thursday. Feel sooo bad for the firefighters and the people who lost property and homes. It was 95 degrees. Hard wind. And the whole thing began because of a control burn. What in the world was someone thinking to strike a match in drought area with that kind of wind? so so sorry.
