Horror Movie Marathon 10/12 Movie 12 - Army Of Darkness 1992 Scare Factor - Greatness Since I did Evil Dead 2 for the 11th, I might as well do Army of Darkness because I love this one so much. Also, I left my computer power chord at work so I need to do this before tomorrow. Army Of Darkness is actually the third installation to the Evil Dead franchise. I love this movie and there are so many lines in this movie that I love. I know for a fact that if someone brakes into my house, the thing I will say to them before I shoot them with my shotgun is “THIS IS MY BOOM STICK!!! NOW YOU GOT THAT!!!!” I also remember seeing the advertisement for this movie on the back of one of my Marvel comic books when I was in the second grade. I wish I still had that. This movie is a great one because it’s different than the other two. Kind of the like BTTF3. Raimi got to go into the mid-evil world with this and it really worked. You have got to love this movie and for anyone that does love this movie know that there is an alternate ending where Ash awakes years later in the future. It’s funny. Army of Darkness takes place right after Evil Dead 2. Ash is teleported to the time of knights and kings. He must travel across the land of the dead to retrieve the Necronomicon so that he can be sent back to the future. The necronomicon is an evil book bound in flesh… blah blah blah. You should know this!! Anyways, Ash messes up and raises the army of the dead. A battle ensues and Ash saves the day. The movie is much more of a comedy than the first two movies. Ash has some great lines and the movie is more vast than the others. It doesn’t just take place in one central location. My favorite scene is the book choosing part. Another cool thing is that Raimi brings back the chasing shot again. It’s always a good thing. Even though the movie has a larger budget, it still maintains a campy non-CG kind of feel to it. I love the work they did with the skeletons on the battlefield. I sometimes wish someone would direct a movie like this but on a more serious side. Maybe Raimi will do this with his reboot of the Evil Dead movies. But I doubt it. To be honest when World of Warcraft first started in the 90’s. I always thought the game resembled Army of Darkness. I didn’t play it but I remember seeing others playing it. Anyways, Army of Darkness rules! I love it and so should you. Favorite Quote: “Well hello mr fancy pants! I got news for you pal, you ain’t leading but two things right now. Jack and shit, and Jack left town.”
