Look at the numbers and you’ll see why: the tourist population has doubled in the past 20 years and is expected to double again. Customer requirements are seeing rapid change. Customers demand faster and more customized services. Many accommodation providers have moved toward a model that caters to these changes. Mobile travel services will continue to expand, as will social media, digital innovation and analytics tools in a bid to engage customers and build loyalty. These are exciting times to be in the hospitality and travel industry, as it sees increased competition, changing attitudes and economics and increased and unique demands from shifting demographics. Exciting times ahead too as the changes begin to emerge through the next 10 years and only travel companies that are prepared for these changes will be ready to give customers improved and exciting customer experiences.
