House Resolution 411 is necessary because the health of a military - TopicsExpress

House Resolution 411 is necessary because the health of a military related population of approximately 700,000+ humans were abandoned by the Department of Defense. They served at Ft McClellan, Alabama from 1917 through 1999. A visitor asks: Can someone tell me what sorts of health issues we are talking about here? that question involves a lengthy answer, given no notification has ever been attempted by the U. S. government. Of the records open to the public, none include health assessments, health focus groups or health data collection to determine what human military casualties existed because of the DERP Sites (Ft McClellan, Anniston Army Depot) and the Super Fund Site (adjoining City of Anniston) and the associated contaminants and toxins released into the environment. No veterans, families or active duty military (concerned populations) stationed at Ft McClellan, Alabama were ever notified of the toxic exposure or increased risk for developing chronic diseases of idiopathic origin, cell mutation, cancer, or risk to developing children. It is highly unlikely any veteran or family member of FTMC still carries active contaminants/toxins because the exposure happened decades ago. Bear in mind, though humans generally mature by 18 years of age, the nervous system is still developing into the late twenties. Surviving veterans and families may have any one or more of an extensive list of health problems, chronic diseases, or cancers. Some of the chemicals, toxins and contaminants have been found to disrupt the the processes associated with the Endocrine System and the Central Nervous System. The World Health Organization has published a 2012 report on Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals (EDC), there are now over 1000 chemicals specifically labeled in public health circles as EDCs. There are more than 80,000 chemicals in use around the world. With these two major message functioning systems affected, the health implications are vast. So decades later, a veteran or family member of FTMC may need to look at human system function tests, instead of listening to misguided information that they still carry contaminants from FTMC and vicinity. By the late 1950s PCBs had been in production for over twenty years. PCBs have been found almost everywhere in the world and are stored in adipose tissue of most animals, including humans. If they are present in a person, my concern would be for their immediate environment, food and lifestyle. My advice is to be sure to update your personal history in all your medical records- include Ft McClellan toxic exposure, a known DERP Site as a potential health concern, even decades later. Secondly, discuss blood function tests with your PCP or specialist. Thyroid, Heart, Pulmonary, Endocrine, Reproductive, Kidney, Liver, Brain and Central Nervous System are some of the areas of concern. Only a highly specialized toxicologist with environmental health expertise can effectively interpret the diagnostic blood results, the patient history, personal history and current health to predict whether toxic exposure from Ft McClellan and vicinity was tolerated well, or likely harmed the individual. The world should be asking; Were there human military casualties from the extensive environmental contamination at Fort McClellan (and vicinity)? Please help bring these veterans and military related families out of the shadows, help notify them and give them justice.
