How Can I Do This Great a Wickedness Lesson 11, Old Testament - TopicsExpress

How Can I Do This Great a Wickedness Lesson 11, Old Testament Teachers Manual I had forgotten how Esau reacted when he and Jacob were reunited. So I read of Jacob carefully preparing presents, trying to soften his brothers heart by showing contrition, obeisance, and generosity and then read as they were reunited, and ran to embrace. What a tender moment, and what a relief that Esau had not let anger, which could have been said to be justified, fester between himself and his brother. Jacob had stolen his birthright, a pretty serious offense at the time, yet when they were reunited, love won out. How often do we cling to the mistakes of our loved ones? How often do we choose to stay angry, to seek reparations and apologies, to lord our righteous indignation over those we love? We need to learn from Esau, and set aside differences and past contentions, and just love. I was also impressed by Esaus simple comment, I have enough when it came to material things. We live in a culture that emphasizes acquisition, but does not teach us what is sufficient. We often seek our whole lives after more and never realize we have enough... Theres a lesson to be learned there, I think.
