How I won over Windows.. Dont usually bother post unless I have something important to say. Back in the day of my mom&dad there was a singer, {they called em crooners} Frank Sinatra was his name. one of his tunes was about a RAM who kept butting a DAM because he had HIGH HOPES. Like in the sky apple pie hopes so the song went. That RAM kept buttin that DAM until ..oops there goes a billion kilowatt dam.. Never gave up my dream of beating a major corporation and getting what I wanted.. which was SERVICE without PAYING for it. This is my story, so here goes: Computers, especially desktops, run this program called Windows. beaten back so many times I was determined to get what I WANTED, just kept at it. The secret inside the machine is that if you backup your files and the whole thing crashes, you get still have to REBUILD, which can take months if you are as persnickity as an old man can be, like buttin that DAM. Much better way is to MIRROR the hard drive which is still where the stuff is kept. Only ALL of it, programs, settings, as well as files and data. But there is a problem.. WINDOWS WONT LET YOU recover from a failed computer by just restoring a mirrored version. So I called microsoft. got the usual disconnects on the phone after 3 hours wait. they dont want to give service for FREE, now do they? Naaa. Two days in a row played that game, they are the king determined to have it all. So on day 3 I tried to CHAT.. All I needed was to know how to BOOT a MIRROR and they werent gonna tell me without me paying them $99 to answer a simple question. Learned that my licensed legit copy of their Windows7 operating system was an OEM version. OEM meaning they had licensed it to another CORPORATION, whom I must contact for service.. or pay their $99. This answered why the Educational version I bought was $150 instead of $MSRP years back.. Anyway I digress. Found a cheaters way out. Of course I did, for I had High in the Sky Apple Pie hopes. Heres the CHEAT: Boot the mirror wait for it to fail, install the original DVD and opt for REPAIR. There it will show you the copy you failed, pick it and yous setting on top of the world, or at the bottom of a broken DAM. Computers are like a house of cards, kick one, they all fall down. That is, unless you have a Mirror and a cheaters way to get even with the giant in the Windows.. HIGH HOPES and a nice day to all. Tim
