DISABLE INDEXING SERVICES To Disable Indexing services do following : 1) Go to Start . 2) Click on Control Panel . 3) Then Click on ADD or Remove Programs. 4) Then Click on add or remove windows components. 5) Uncheck The indexing services . 6) Then Click Next . OPTIMIZE DISPLAY SETTING To Do follow the following instructions. 1) Go To Start. 2) Right Click on my computer and click on properties. 3) Then click on advanced and under perfomance click setting . 4) Then Tick The choose for Best Perfomance. Note : After doing that theme will look bad ,but xp will be faster than before. Disable unused Programs To do follow the following steps : 1) Go To Start and click on run . 2) type msconfig in run . 3) Click on Startup and disable the unused programs . 4) Then Reboot your Pc. DISABLE UNNESSCARY SERVICES 1) Go to start and click on run. 2) Type services.msc 3) Double click on the services that you want to disable. 4) Change the startup type to Disable. Turn off system restore : 1) Go to Start and open control panel. 2) click on perfomance and maintenance. 3) click on system. 4) click on system restore . 5) Tick Turn off system restore on all drives . Make your bootup faster : 1) Go to start and click on run. 2) type msconfig. 3) Then click on BOOT.INI. 4) Under Boot.ini tab you will see timeout it is usually 30 sec make it 4 second and restart computer . 5 ) You will feel fast bootup . Disable System Sounds : 1) Go to start and click on control panel. 2) Then click on sounds and audio devices . 3) check place volume icon in taskbar . 4) Click sounds Tab . 5)Choose No Sounds to disable the system sounds . 6) Click no and Apply. 7)Then click Ok . Delete The Temporary Files: 1) Go to start and click on run. 2) Type %temp% 3) Delete all the files in temp. Delete Prefetch : 1) Go to start and click on my computer . 2) Then click on C: and then click on Windows . 3) Find the folder with name Prefetch after finding it open it . 4) Then delete all the files in the prefetch folder . 5) after doing it do to Start and click on run. 6) type regedit . 7) Then click on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control \Session Manager\Memory Management\PrefetchParameters. 8) Under the PrefetchParameters you will see value name enable prefetcher click on it and if you modify it to 0 then it means prefetch is disable and if you modify it to 1 then it means that prefetch only caches applications and if you modify it to 2 then it means the prefetch only caches system boot files and if you modify it to 3 then it means the prefetch caches boot and application files . You need to not disable it entirely. This would actually make boot time longer. This is because this feature is also used to speed up the loading of boot files. That is why you should pick the number 2 option. It allows you to keep the advantage of caching system files, without continually clogging the system up with applications and set the value to 2 and reboot . Disk Fragment Always Perform a Disk Defragmentation at least once a month. Start the disk defragmentation from the System Tools menu available in the Accessories menu from the Start menu. It takes a longer time and it is advised not to run any applications in the computer including the screen savers, while running disk defragmentation.
