How are your CSA scores affecting your insurance? Wayne Schooling • CSA scores generally affect the drivers and this affects the carriers SMS scores which is what the insurance companies look at. If a carrier has a driver whose CSA is affecting their SMS scores, they will have to show the FMCSA what they are doing to mitigate these violations. Rather than shoot from the hip and fire the employee or terminate the independent contractors contract, it may be just a matter of refreshing their memory of the regulations. The Transportation Safety Institute in partnership with Advance Online has chosen the NorthAmerican Transportation Association (ntassoc.org) to provide these CSA Corrective Action Courses 24/7 to the small to medium companies for their drivers and management. TSI has mandated these courses be reasonable therefore most courses are less than $25.00. Just look under the heading of EDUCATION.
