How bank fooled the Muslims? One of the Brothers’ whom I know very well told me something really amazing today. He told me how the banking system rips the community and the reason why Islam has prohibited Riba (interest). The brother, named Kamel (name changed) worked for the government in the IT sector few years ago and he asked me a question. Kamel asked me a question. He said to me, “Do you know why so many people, including Muslims in Greenacre have a four-wheel drive (car)? He said do you think everyone has a flourishing business, or does everyone have a great job? Kamel said to me, “Do you know Greenacre is one of the top suburbs in Australia in terms of spending money”. He asked me if I knew how this was possible? I thought for a while but I was clueless as I myself see around 80% people in Greenacre have a four-wheel drive and a very good house. I was sure that not every Muslim who did not even have a university degree could have a great $10k/month job. Not everyone has a great business in Sydney, so how come so much wealth amongst people in Greenacre? A lot of Muslims live in Greenacre. Brother Kamel started to tell me how this works and how the bank fooled MAJORITY of the people. Long ago, refugees came to Australia and in Sydney one of the first suburbs they settled in was Greenacre. Majority of them came to Australia for a better life. The intention was to have a better life and Allah gave them what they wanted. Majority of them started working in factories, farms and many other trade works. They worked hard and decided to live in Australia, as they did not want to go back to Lebanon. We are talking about 1970s and 80s. They earned good enough money and bought houses on loan, which is Islamically haram. So at the present time, 99% houses in Greenacre have been paid off. The second generation of Middle-Eastern Australians living in Greenacre now does not have to pay off for their homes as it has already been paid in the last 30-40 years. The bank works really smart. The bank KNEW this very well that the houses have been paid off. Then what the bank decided was to throw small parties for the people in Greenacre. They spent few thousand dollars and invited the people who had finished paying off for their house. Many people went to those events/parties and here is where the catch is. The bank offered each and everyone a cheque of $200k at the party and said this is your money and you can pay it in a few years time. The bank knew that the people would not find it hard to pay the amount of $200k as they do not pay for their home (mortgage or rent). Out of all, around 75% people accepted the cheque of $200K, which is again not allowed in Islam. Once they got the cheque, they renovated their homes, bought furniture and cars and started to have a comfortable life. And the bank became richer!!! So the bank spent few thousand dollars to lure people and in return, made in millions. Brother Kamel said, “This is the reason you see so much wealth in Greenacre”. I was surprised to hear this. Subhan Allah the banks are so corrupt and smart in luring people and how foolish Muslims are in accepting haram when the book of Allah clearly tells us not to take riba. If we Muslims sway away from the book of Allah, then there can’t be any barakah in our lives. Big houses but no happiness. Lot of food but no health. Lot of money but no time to spend. Many kids but no time to spend with them. Nice cars but no loved ones to sit in them. May Allah save everyone from the evils of riba. Allah has waged a war against the one who takes riba. But do we know why? Why didn’t Allah say that there is war on the one who eats pork or drinks wine? Why on the one who takes riba? The reason is because the one who takes riba sins 24*7. He lives in a house, sleeps in that house, fills food in his stomach from riba. Hence he is sinning 24*7. May Allah guide us all and grant us Jannah.
