Twisting and squeezing tissues releases toxins and stored emotions. 3 Opening the rib cage creates space with specific poses - depression and anxiety forces the body to cave - the front of the body shorten and the spine is pulled into an unnatural state adding insult to emotional injury - back pain. 4. #Breathwork during yoga teaches us how to control our emotions 5. Holding yoga poses brings focus to the body and breath. We become more aware of our actions off and on the mat. It becomes more difficult to harm our bodies and spirit when we are self-aware.
