How did Jesus rock the boat? (Part 2) “On hearing his words, some of the people said, “Surely this man is the Prophet.” Others said, “He is the Messiah.” Still others asked, “How can the Messiah come from Galilee? Does not Scripture say that the Messiah will come from David’s descendants and from Bethlehem, the town where David lived?” Thus the people were divided because of Jesus.” – John 7:40-43 Jesus – The Messiah – The One that all the people of Israel had been expecting and waiting for, for centuries was NOT at all what was expected! He broke the mold, blew everyone’s perceptions away and proved once and for all that The God is beyond what a mere mortal could ever possibly conceive Him to Be! With this in mind – why on earth do so many people seem to think today that they have God figured out and He is exactly like what they think He is? No one else is right except them and every other idea on how God could act and what He wants is wrong because they have God nailed, they know exactly what He will do, how He will act and what He wants from everyone! If the religious leaders in the time of Christ after looking for The Messiah and studying the passages that described Him couldn’t recognize Him – do you think it’s possible that the homeless drunk woman you blew off yesterday could have been God? If not why not? One of the famous sayings I was brought up with was “God works in mysterious ways” – so why was I told exactly what God wanted, expected and how He expected me to behave? How did Jesus rock the boat back then and continue to rock it today? Perhaps God and the Spirit that Jesus brought to us through His death on the cross is NOT a destination but a journey instead! Perhaps Jesus wanted to make sure that people would search instead of thinking they had everything figured out! “By His stripes we are healed” – healed of what? In short we are reconnected (Reconciled) with God and in that we are healed, made complete and made whole again – now here is the deal – the word Reconciled is always past tense for believers! It is done, finished and we are made complete – the journey we are on now is one of exploring Love and learning His Peace and Rest! BeGraceFull
