How did we find out Noah had Leukemia?…………. Cathy called me while I was at a conference and said Noah had a rash that has spread from his belly to all over his body. Our first thought was it was either Chicken Pox or the Measels but Noah said none of the red marks on his body were itchy nor was he showing any fever. Nothing was bothering him. It just looked abnormal. The Doctors called it vasculitis caused by an unknow illness or a reaction to a recent medication. They drew blood and sent us on our way. Within 2-3 hours they called us back and said his blood test were back and his Red and white blood cells as well as his Platelettes were all dangerously low. He was immediately seen by several other doctors and they said some of the red markings were called petechiae commonly associated with anemia and Leukemia on the extreme side of the spectrum while the other red markings were a unknown skin conditioning. Without further testing they came to a conclusion that it was Leukemai and that he needed to be seen by pediatric oncologist who can provide more detailed testings. By lunch time the following day, thru additional blood tests, blood smears and a biopsy of his bone marrow the diagnosis was confimed. Did we miss any signs or symptoms of his illness prior to the diagnosis will be answered next weekend.
